Tavla Privacy Policy

Overview
This Privacy Policy describes the data collection and use practices specific to Tavla / Backgammon Classic by Slafiy. For general Slafiy privacy principles that apply across all our apps, see our main Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
1. Account Information (online features only)
If you use online multiplayer, you sign in with Google (Android) or Apple (iOS). We receive:
- Email address (used as a unique account identifier). If you use Sign in with Apple and choose "Hide My Email," we receive Apple's anonymous relay address instead of your real email.
- Account display name from Google or Apple (used only during authentication and immediately replaced by your chosen in-game nickname). With Sign in with Apple, you may also choose not to share your name.
- Provider user ID — Google user ID or Apple user identifier (internal identifier)
Solo and pass-and-play modes require no sign-in and no personal information at all.
2. Gameplay Data (online features only)
For online matches, we store the following on Google Firebase Realtime Database:
- Your chosen in-game nickname
- Board state, dice rolls, and move history during an active match
- Scores and match results
- Chat messages you send to your opponent (max 200 characters per message)
- Match timestamps (creation, last move, completion)
- Room type (public matchmaking vs. private invitation)
This data is essential for real-time multiplayer. Match data is deleted from the database when you delete the match from your "My Games" list.
3. Subscription Data
Tavla offers an optional Premium subscription (monthly $0.99 / yearly $10) that unlocks additional themes, board styles, and statistics. Payment processing is handled entirely by:
- Google Play Billing on Android
- Apple App Store on iOS
We only receive a confirmation that a subscription is active. We do not store or see your payment card details.
4. Advertising (free tier)
The free tier may display ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device advertising ID to show personalized ads. You can reset or opt out of personalized ads from your device settings:
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking
Premium subscribers do not see ads.
5. Device Storage (local only)
The following are stored locally on your device only (not transmitted to our servers):
- Your in-game nickname (to restore it on next launch)
- Language preference and theme selection
- Subscription status (cached for offline access)
- Single-player game progress and statistics
All local data is removed when you uninstall the app.
Information We Do Not Collect
- Location data
- Contacts, camera, microphone
- Photos (except when you explicitly save a screenshot of your match)
- Behavioral analytics or tracking across other apps
- Browsing history
How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate you for online multiplayer (Sign in with Google on Android, Sign in with Apple on iOS)
- To match you with opponents in public rooms
- To synchronize game state between you and your opponent in real time
- To deliver chat messages during matches
- To process subscriptions and unlock premium content
- To show ads in the free tier (via AdMob)
- To respond to support requests
Third-Party Services
Tavla integrates with:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Realtime Database) — Firebase Privacy
- Sign in with Google (Android) — for authentication
- Sign in with Apple (iOS) — for authentication; supports Apple's "Hide My Email" relay
- Google AdMob (free tier) — AdMob Privacy
- Google Play Services (Android) — for Play Billing and sign-in
- Apple App Store (iOS) — for in-app subscriptions and sign-in
Chat Messages
In-game chat between you and your opponent is limited to 200 characters per message and stored temporarily on our servers so both players can see the conversation. You are responsible for the content you send. We do not actively moderate chat content but reserve the right to remove messages or ban accounts that violate our terms (harassment, hate speech, spam, etc.).
Chat messages are automatically deleted when the associated match is deleted.
To report abusive behavior, email support@slafiy.com with the opponent's nickname, the approximate time, and a screenshot if possible.
Data Retention
- Active match data: kept while the match is ongoing
- Finished matches: retained in your "My Games" list until you delete them
- Chat messages: deleted when the associated match is deleted
- Account data: retained while your account is active. On deletion request, we delete your data within 30 days.
Your Rights
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and all match history
- Withdraw consent by signing out and uninstalling the app
- File a complaint with your local data protection authority
You can also delete all of your data directly from inside the app via Settings → Delete My Data. To exercise any of the rights above by email, contact support@slafiy.com from the email address associated with your Google or Apple account (or from your Apple "Hide My Email" relay address if you used that to sign in).
Children's Privacy
Tavla is suitable for a general audience but includes chat features in online mode. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your region). If a parent or guardian believes their child has provided personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Data Security
We use Google Firebase, an industry-standard infrastructure that encrypts data in transit (TLS) and at rest. We recommend using a strong Google/Apple account password and enabling two-factor authentication.
International Data Transfer
Slafiy is based in Turkey. Firebase data centers are operated by Google and may be located in the European Union or the United States. By using Tavla, you consent to this transfer.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we will provide notice within the app.
